In a fall the absorber tears open in a controlled way to keep the force on the body under 6kN. It is certified to AS 1891.5:2020 and rated for one user from 50kg to 140kg. The energy absorber holds the fall arrest force on the body under 6kN. It takes about 2kN to start deploying, so short slides and normal movement do not set it off, and it is built for a maximum free fall of 2m with a tear out no longer than 1750mm.
