Description

Skylotec Jackpod Base, Seven Mounting Options

The base of the Jackpod davit system, intended to mount to beams, columns, tanks, walkways and concrete surfaces. It is the part that decides whether a davit position is possible at all, which is why it comes in seven forms rather than one.

Certified to CEN/TS 16415:2013, with the portable base to EN 795:2012/B and the flush floor and wall mounts to EN 795:2012/A. Built in steel, with aluminium and steel on the portable base, for rescue and confined space work. The structural requirement differs by mounting. The wall mount may only be installed on a surface capable of supporting a minimum moment of 10,000 Nm and a 22.4 kN vertical load, with a minimum ultimate pull out strength of 48.93 kN per fastener. The flush floor mount requires a minimum moment of 1000 Nm and a 22.24 kN (5000 lbs) vertical load, with a minimum ultimate pull out strength of 17.79 kN (4000 lbs) per fastener. Where those values cannot be confirmed, the fasteners must be specified by a structural engineer carrying out the calculations with the appropriate safety factors. Assembly and use by a qualified person only, and all system components must be installed, inspected, maintained and used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Only Skylotec davit arms may be used with the product, and all accessories must have been created, produced or certified by Skylotec. A serial number is mandatory on this product.

The masts that fit it are the Jackpod davit lower mast and the upper mast, and the socket is protected between uses by the Jackpod cap. Full range in mobile anchor points and lifelines.

FAQ

Which mounting do I need?

It depends entirely on the structure. Portable and bolt on flange bases suit situations with no prepared position, flush floor and floor mounts suit a prepared slab, the wall and corner mounts suit vertical structure, and the barrel mount suits a fixed 5.7 cm barrel. Weights run from 4.71 kg for the wall mount to 29.50 kg for the portable base.

What does the structure need to support?

It depends on the mounting. The wall mount needs a surface capable of supporting a minimum moment of 10,000 Nm and a 22.4 kN vertical load, with a minimum ultimate pull out strength of 48.93 kN per fastener. The flush floor mount needs a minimum moment of 1000 Nm and a 22.24 kN (5000 lbs) vertical load, with a minimum ultimate pull out strength of 17.79 kN (4000 lbs) per fastener. Where those values cannot be confirmed, the fasteners must be specified by a structural engineer, and a qualified person must perform the calculation with the appropriate safety factors for the application.

Can I use another manufacturer's davit arm?

No. Only Skylotec davit arms may be used with the product, and all accessories must have been created, produced or certified by Skylotec.

What is it certified to?

CEN/TS 16415:2013 across the range, with the portable base JP-003-1 to EN 795:2012/B and the flush floor mount JP-003-3 and wall mount JP-003-5 to EN 795:2012/A. A serial number is mandatory on this product, so record it at installation.
