Working at heights descenders are devices used for a controlled descent while working on elevated surfaces such as buildings, bridges and towers. Most industrial descenders are used with compatible 11mm static rope, or another rope diameter specified by the manufacturer for the device. These devices allow workers to safely and efficiently descend and in some cases perform a rescue from a height while minimising the risk of injury.
